In pursuit of happiness

Since the beginning of this year I began a journey of self-awareness trying to best know myself for better development, professionally, personally and relationship wise. After only 9 days of the year I think I have made some progress, then again, it has only been 9 days into the year, let’s not count the chicks before they hatch.
I have been frustrated and angry due to my present circumstances, I am currently broke- in need of a lot of money, something that is even more frustrating is that I need money not for partying and luxuries but to get myself out of debt and to pay my bills including fees for my children- to sum it all I can say I am unhappy.
Happiness is the thing most of us seek in life and there is absolutely nothing wrong with it, in fact we can say happiness is a state we all wish to achieve in life. The thing that makes a difference however is how we aim to achieve it. Some of us will choose shortcuts such as taking drugs or alcohol to achieve it but only for a short period of time. The thing that we ought to do is to approach it as a series of problem solving challenges, as we solve the problem we are able to achieve some state of happiness and the more problems we solve the happier we become.

How does it relate to my current circumstance, clearly I am unhappy reason being I am broke- for me to be happy I need to solve the problem, I need to get money and the problem will never go away with wishing and praying but rather through sustained action. Now that the problem is defined I need to identify different solutions to the problem. Clearly identifying the options and comprehensively evaluating them based on viability, time and productivity. True solutions will require time, patience and sacrifice, without these solutions are barely wishes.
As we move into a new year, lets vow to become problem solvers, we will become happier as we solve bigger problems and learning from them, but in order to solve problems we must clearly see them as they are. The next step becomes finding solutions, try as best as possible to avoid tunnel vison but rather use wide angle lenses. When we clearly see the problem and identify the most possible solutions for them we put ourselves in the best possible position to achieve happiness.
Start with me today and let us make this year different.
